Rosemont breaks ground on Balmoral off-ramp

Rosemont broke ground Wednesday on a $14.2 million off-ramp project on the northbound Tri-State Tollway at Balmoral Avenue.

The village entered into an intergovernmental agreement with the Illinois Tollway Authority in March agreeing to pay for the construction. The Tollway Authority will reimburse the village with future toll revenues.

The off-ramp is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on River Road and provide an alternative entrance to O’Hare International Airport. It will also provide faster access to Rosemont’s Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont Theatre, area hotels, and the village’s new entertainment district, The Park at Rosemont.

The first phase of construction of the entertainment district is currently under way.
