llinois offers incentive package to manufacturer

Gov. Pat Quinn says investment incentives the state is offering a packaging manufacturer should create 40 jobs in Illinois.

Quinn announced the package for Winpak Portion Packaging Inc. on Wednesday. The company will use the offer to help build a manufacturing facility in the southern Chicago suburb of Sauk Village. Quinn's office says there is the potential for more job creation in the future.

Winpak's facility in South Chicago Heights employs about 200 people. It makes plastic cups and trays for food and beverages. Its parent company is Winpak Ltd., based in Winnipeg, Canada, which had annual sales of $579 million.

The investment package includes tax credits based on job creation and job training funds along with other state and local incentives.
