Local unit receives prestigious Girl Scout Award
Aurora (North/Northwest) Mooseheart, St. Charles (East) – Local volunteers received recognition and awards during a Volunteer Recognition Event hosted by Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois (GSNI) on April 16. The Vega Service Unit, which includes Aurora (North and Northwest), Mooseheart, and St. Charles (East), received the GSNI's President's Award, which is given to a geographic area team or program delivery team that has significantly contributed to meeting one of more council goals in Girl Scout membership growth and retention, fund development, or increased community visibility.
The Vega Service Unit organized a sing-a-long event where every participant was encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item. Through a partnership with several area social workers, the food collected was then distributed to over thirty families in need!
