Cougars prevail
BURLINGTON, Iowa — Alex Llanos belted 2 home runs including a ninth-inning grand slam and drove in 5 runs, and Sugar Ray Marimon tossed 8 solid innings Saturday night, lifting the Kane County Cougars (8-14) past the Burlington Bees 5-1 at Community Field and snapping the Cougars’ losing streak at six games.
Marimon (1-2) baffled the Bees, giving up 4 hits with no walks and 5 strikeouts. He had five perfect innings and saw the minimum in six of his innings.
In the ninth, the Cougars’ Lane Adams had an infield single, pinch hitter Ryan Stovall was walked intentionally and Gerard Hall had an infield hit before Llanos hit his grand slam over the left-field fence.
