Jury: Algonquin man guilty of raping housekeeper
A McHenry County jury has convicted an Algonquin man of raping his housekeeper in October 2009, court records show.
Andrew Spanier, 58, was found guilty Friday of aggravated criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual assault. He faces up to 30 years in prison.
Algonquin police arrested Spanier after an investigation into a housekeeper’s claims that he assaulted her Oct. 9, 2009, inside his home on the 0-100 block of Hartford Court. Prosecutors have said the woman suffered bruising in the alleged attack.
Spanier, who had been free on a $100,000 bond, was taken into custody Friday upon the jury’s guilty finding, court records show.
Spanier was convicted after a five-day trial. He is scheduled for sentencing June 29 in front of Judge Sharon Prather.
