Rolling Meadows can’t confirm identity of body found in Des Plaines River
DNA tests will be required before it is known whether the body of a woman found Thursday in the Des Plaines River near River Grove is that of a Rolling Meadows woman missing since February, Rolling Meadows Police Chief Dave Scanlan said Friday.
While Rolling Meadows police do not suspect foul play in that disappearance, it is the Illinois State Police who are investigating the death of the woman found in the river, said Scanlan. The spokesman for that department was not available for comment Friday afternoon.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Friday the body is a female, but said the cause of death was unknown pending tests. The missing woman, a Rolling Meadows resident about 55 years old and from Poland, disappeared Feb. 26, Scanlan said. Des Plaines police found her vehicle in March just across the street from the Des Plaines River at the Scott Nolan Center, a mental health facility affiliated with Maryville Academy.
#147;We had a suspicion that the Des Plaines River may have some involvement in our missing (person),#148; Scanlan said. #147;Other departments knew we were looking in that direction, so they gave us a call#148; when the body was found.
