DuPage Children’s Museum gala raises $335,000

DuPage Children’s Museum raised more than $335,000 at its recent Champions for Children Benefit Ball.

“The support of everyone here this evening allows us to continue to provide carefully researched and innovative early learning experiences for all children in our community regardless of whatever physical, developmental or financial barriers they face, “ Executive Director Susan Broad told the crowd.

Guests were joined by emcee Judy Hsu, co-anchor of ABC7 News This Morning. She is a former museum member and an activist for many community causes.

This year’s honorary chairmen, Brenda and Tom Harter Sr., were recognized for their many years of support, philanthropic contributions and volunteer efforts on behalf of DuPage Children’s Museum and throughout the community.

In her remarks to the audience, Brenda Harter spoke of how she and her husband became fans of the museum. They first were introduced to it more than 10 years ago at their granddaughter’s third birthday party at the museum’s previous location in Wheaton.

“Both Tom and I have witnessed the impact of hands-on, interactive play in the development of a child’s creativity and imagination. We strongly believe in the importance of championing investing in early learning,” she said.
