5 burglary arrests in Waukegan

Victor Zuluaga, 17, of the 1600 block of Sunset Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested Monday and charged with nine counts of residential burglary, authorities said Thursday.

Zuluaga surrendered when police responded to a residential burglary in progress about 8:30 a.m. Monday in the 2800 block of Tyler Avenue, Waukegan. An investigation concluded Zuluaga was responsible for nine residential burglaries since March, and had been put on two years’ probation for burglaries in January, authorities said. Bond for Zuluaga was set at $25,000.

Police also made four arrests after an investigation into a residential burglary that began about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Frolic Avenue, Waukegan.

Jimontay D. Carr, 23, of the 2300 block of 9th Parkway, Waukegan; Hassan A. Grant, 23, of the 1400 block of South Canal Street, Chicago; Cordale Q. Handy, 23, of the 2700 block of Lydia Street, Waukegan; and Jerell L. Johnson, 21, of the 2700 block of Lydia Street, Waukegan, each were arrested and charged with residential burglary, according to police.

Investigators found the four men to be responsible for six residential burglaries in Waukegan, but the number of counts of residential burglary they each will face is yet to be determined. Bond has not been set for Carr, Grant, Handy or Johnson.
