Palatine Rural Fire Protection District awarded $26,983 grant

The Palatine Rural Fire Protection District in Inverness has been awarded a $26,983 grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant, distributed through FEMA’s Operations and Safety Program, will be used to replace outdated extrication equipment.

Fire protection district officials said having up-to-date equipment is key to successful automobile extrication because of new technology being used in car manufacturing, including side impact beams and high-carbon steel designed not to break in a crash.
