Law breakers are being rewarded
Thank you to Sue Tiederman of Elgin for her March 28 Fence Post letter, “Family decided in 2004 to break law.” Every day, month and year illegals are breaking the law regarding immigration. The law is not respected due to lack of government enforcement.
The article expresses true concern that reaches far beyond two brothers whose father preplanned and executed permanent residence for them illegally. The father of the Robles boys knew time was on his side because of length of time it takes immigration officials to “catch up.” Our entire school system and social services system has been bankrupted by the current system, which allows millions of noncitizens the privilege of being supported by citizens indefinitely.
When illegals are finally apprehended and deportation looms, they at last have to follow the law of the land. No reimbursement for all the benefits received over the years is forthcoming, that which legal citizens had to pay for. Just return home to Mexico or wherever, and reapply for citizenship to the United States. Then wait your turn like every immigrant before you has been expected to do.
Breaking the law initially should not have rewards. Citizenship in America does not give you the right to pick and choose which laws of the land you follow, regardless of your position or your age. It makes you a felon, breaking the law.
