Man gets jail, counseling for probation violation
A Gurnee man who violated his probation for a burglary conviction was ordered Tuesday to spend a year in jail when not working or going to drug counseling.
Lake County Associate Judge George Bridges also ordered Ryan Heller, 32, to perform 200 hours of community service and to undergo a psychological evaluation.
Assistant State’s Attorney Marykay Foy said Heller, of the 36000 block of Grand Oaks Drive, pleaded guilty to burglarizing and damaging five cars in a Grayslake parking lot July 30, 2008.
He was sentenced to three years probation, agreed to pay $9,820 in restitution and was ordered not to consume drugs or alcohol while on probation.
Foy said Heller tested positive for drug use several times while on probation, and on Dec. 9, 2010 was arrested for possession of marijuana.
Bridges also extended Heller’s probation for another 18 months and told him he would have to spend 160 days on home confinement when he is released from jail.
