Glen Ellyn can meet village manager candidates tonight
Glen Ellyn residents will have the opportunity to hear from some of the candidates for the village manager position at a town hall-style forum tonight.
Village President Mark Pfefferman said there would be “up to three” candidates present at the forum, which is scheduled to run from 5:50 to 9 p.m. at village hall, 535 Duane St.
The village board met with six candidates during a series of closed session meetings last week, and narrowed the list down to three. But the candidates’ names haven’t been released yet, in order to give them time to inform their current employers that they are being considered for the Glen Ellyn job.
The candidates will give short presentations on their respective backgrounds, why they want the job, and what they’d bring to Glen Ellyn, Pfefferman said. Residents will be able to submit questions for the candidates to answer.
A total of 82 people applied for the position after Voorhees Associates, a village-hired recruitment firm, began seeking job applications in January.
Pfefferman has said officials were seeking to hire a village manager by May, and after that, it would be that person’s responsibility to find permanent finance and public works directors.
Since last October, Village Manager Steve Jones, Finance Director Jon Batek and Public Works Director Joe Caracci have all left the village, and their positions have been filled on an interim basis.
To find out who the candidates are, check back later tonight to dailyherald.com and tomorrow’s print edition.
