Authorities link dead suspect to 10 shootings in Illinois, Wisconsin

TOMAH, Wis. — Authorities say a man killed by police in Wisconsin may be connected to at least 10 shootings across Illinois and the Badger State.

Tomah police fatally shot 28-year-old Seth McCloskey during a traffic stop Friday. Police say McCloskey jumped out of his pickup truck and started shooting, wounding one officer.

Authorities say the red truck matches one that witnesses have described in recent random drive-by shootings at homes and businesses across Wisconsin and Illinois.

In one of those shootings, a 50-year-old woman was injured by a bullet in her Dane County Wisconsin home. Officials in Wisconsin believe all the gunshots came from one vehicle traveling on the interstate. Bullets from seven shootings in Winnebago County, Ill., are being analyzed.
