Aurora celebrates Arbor Day with free oak seedlings
Aurora residents attending the city’s Arbor Day celebration Friday, April 29, will receive a free oak seedling to take home.
The observance runs from 1 to 2 p.m. at Washington Middle School, 231 Constitution Drive, and is sponsored by the city in conjunction with Living Lands and Waters Foundation, ComEd and West Aurora School District 129.
Speakers are scheduled to include Mayor Tom Weisner, Library Director Eva Luckinbill, District 129 Superintendent James Ryland and Alderman James “Whitey” Peters.
Trees will be planted along Constitution Drive and free oak seedlings will be distributed at the end of the ceremony.
