Gurnee Days honor former board attorney
Gurnee Days Corp. officials have announced this year’s honoree for the longtime annual festival. Former Gurnee village board attorney Barbara Swanson will be the Gurnee Days honoree. She’s the daughter of Howard and Joyce Swanson and a lifelong Gurnee resident. Her father previously served as Gurnee’s village attorney. Donald Rudny replaced Swanson with Rudolph Magna as village attorney after he beat Richard Welton to become mayor in 2001. Swanson is involved in various ways in the village, such as a member and director of the Exchange Club of Gurnee and the Gurnee Women’s Business Association. Gurnee Days Corp. officials seek nominations from the community for people who have made a meaningful contribution to the village for at least 10 years.
