“I have known Dan for several years and can't think of a better individual to be recognized for his work in Naperville,” Mayor A. George Pradel said. “Dan is conscientious, hard working and goes above and beyond in working with our residents and businesses. He's knowledgeable about how issues in Springfield are impacting Naperville and makes every effort to improve the quality of life in our city.”

The Distinguished Service Awards are presented by the Jaycees to members of the community who demonstrate exemplary civic-mindedness. In addition to the Public Employee category, awards are presented in the areas of business, student volunteer, educator, nonprofit organization, young professional and community leader. One individual will also receive the Charles “Chuck” Bueche Lifetime Achievement award.

Di Santo has been Assistant to the City Manager since 2007, following three years as a community planner in the Transportation, Engineering and Development Business Group. Di Santo received his master's degree in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University in 2009. As Assistant to the City Manager, Di Santo is responsible for Naperville's legislative efforts at the state and federal levels, leading the city's annual Strategic Plan Initiative process, overseeing the city's accessibility efforts related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and various other special projects. He also serves as chairman of the city's Environmental Sustainability Team.

DiSanto was nominated for the Jaycees Distinguished Service Award for his work with people with disabilities. He holds the distinction of being the city's first ADA Coordinator. During this time, he created the city's ADA Notice and Grievance Procedure, Special Events Checklist, Strategic Plan Initiative for accessibility and ADA webpage, which was used as a model in a 2010 state law for municipal and county websites.
