More at stake than just racing in saving track
There has been much debate about the pros and cons of having slot machines at Arlington Racetrack. The time is now to approve slot machines for Arlington racetrack, with the departure of a major horse owner and the smaller purses being offered. If this continues, other owners will leave as well and eventually, the closure of the track.
If this happens, many people will be without jobs and the area around the track will suffer as well.
The trustees who oppose the slots at the track must have the answers to replacing the jobs, revenue and the loss of business around the track. I’d like to hear their solutions to this. If they do in fact have these answers, that’s great, then we don’t need the slots.
I personally believe that these trustees don’t have the answers to these questions. It’s time to talk to your trustees and state legislatures to seek approval for slots at Arlington Racetrack to keep this beautiful venue open for a long time to come.
