Des Plaines talks walking, biking
Des Plaines residents get to share their thoughts on how to make the community more walkable and bikeable at the Active Transportation Plan public meeting, 1:30-3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30, at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood St. Light refreshments will be served. People who come will participate in mapping activities where they draw routes of their favorite biking and walking routes; where they don’t feel safe walking and biking; and where they would like to walk and bike. They’ll also be surveyed about travel habits and educated about opportunities.
After the meeting, planning experts will bike and walk around the community and review it from an engineering perspective to develop an active transportation plan to promote walking and biking to local parks, schools, shopping centers and workplaces.
People who can’t attend the meeting can take a survey at surveymonkey.com/desplainesactivetrans or contact Barb Cornew at barb@activetrans.org.
