Hard to trust calls for government control
Illinois lawmakers have introduced a bill that would eliminate “excessive” and redundant government by creating a panel that would require the targeted body to justify its existence or cease to exist. While a worthy idea, the bill is sponsored by one of our local senators who: supported Rod Blagojevich even after he was under federal investigation, allowed deficit spending in the state for years, voted to “sweep” money from protected funds such as teachers’ pensions, voted to increase taxes 100 percent of the time and who in a “leadership” position failed to meet the constitutional requirement that a balanced budget be passed each year.
Career politicians who have created this mess somehow calling for government to be smaller and more efficient is akin to Al Capone declaring that there needs to be a limit on the number of mobsters in Chicago.
