Bravo for township insurance probe

It’s refreshing to see a local newspaper do a great job of good old investigative reporting and then take a strong follow-up stand calling for specific action to correct the situation.

We strongly agree with your “A vote for gutting more governments” editorial. The free health care scandal for elected township officials and recently exposed double dipping scandal of our local mayors is just the tip of the iceberg.

We need continuing investigative reporting to really let the people know what is going on, and which most of the electronic media ignores or covers up, so that we the people can get energized and take collective action.

We need to investigate the “early retirement” deals and excessive benefit packages that most public employees enjoy in this state that are adding to our crushing tax burden as well as the situation with appointed versus elected public boards.

Keep up the good work. We the people need your help to be informed.
