German star gets tryout with Sky

The Chicago Sky has signed 6-foot 2 veteran forward Linda Frohlich to a training camp contract

Frohlich, 31, is considered the best women's basketball player to ever come out of Germany. Originally selected by the Liberty in the second round (26th overall) of the 2002 WNBA Draft, she played two seasons in New York, one in Indiana, and one in Sacramento before moving to international basketball full-time.

Frohlich has played for professional teams in Russia, Turkey, Slovakia, Romania, Spain, and now Greece. She joined Proteus of the Greek League in January and in 11 games she has averaged 14.1 points and 11.5 rebounds in 32.5 minutes per game and was selected for the Greek League All-Star Game.

“Linda's toughness, intelligence and experience have served her well throughout her career,” Sky head coach and general manager Pokey Chatman said. “She is fundamentally sound at the post position, with the ability to face up and hit the three. I'm looking forward to having her in camp.”

A native of Pforzheim, Germany, Frohlich attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, from 1998-2002. She is UNLV' all-time leading scorer (men's and women's), as well as the Lady Rebels' all-time leading rebounder. She also became the first Lady Rebel to record 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in career.
