Naperville Police Dept. launches online reporting April 25

On April 25 at 9 a.m., the Naperville Police Department will begin offering an online reporting service to citizens wishing to file an official police report. Online reporting will allow citizens to file a police report for non-emergency incidents at any hour, day or night. The intent of this new online reporting service is to enhance the public's ability to interact with the Naperville Police Department and free up patrol officers for emergency calls.

“We are very excited to offer unprecedented access to the Naperville Police Department,” Chief of Police David Dial said. “Online reporting is an instrument that supports the Naperville Police Department's mission of providing professional, high quality and effective police service in partnership with the community.”

The Naperville Police Department is accepting the following types of electronic reports: civil matter of record, criminal damage to property under $300, dumping/littering, lost property, nuisance complaint and theft of property under $300.

Citizens interested in filing a police report electronically should visit the Naperville Police Department's website at www.naperville.il.us/police.aspx and select “Online Police Reporting.” Completed online reports will be submitted to a police officer for review within five days. Citizens filing an online report will receive an e-mail confirming acceptance of the report and a unique report number.

For more information, visit the City of Naperville's website or call the Police Department's non-emergency number at (630) 420-6157.
