Naperville Smart Grid Initiative Open House Taking Place April 26

Exciting Event Will Feature All-Electric Vehicles and Showcase the Future of Energy

The Naperville Smart Grid Initiative (NSGI) Steering Committee invites the public to an engaging and educational open house to learn more about the city's $356 million electric utility asset and its exciting transformation to a more efficient, more reliable and smarter grid. The NSGI Open House will take place from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26 at the Electric Service Center, 1392 Aurora Ave.

The smart grid will empower Naperville's utility customers with tools, options and choices on how and if they decide to track and manage their energy use to fit their busy lifestyles. Attendees can learn:

• What is the Smart Grid?

• How will this impact me?

• Are smart meters safe?

• What is the project timeline?

• Where can I go for more information?

To highlight Naperville's commitment to the environment and showcase the future of energy to attendees, the all-electric Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt vehicles will be on display. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy, Illinois Institute of Technology (tentative), NSGI vendors, Naperville for Clean Energy and Conservation and the Naperville Renewable Energy Program will join smart grid project team members to provide information and answer questions.

All attendees must bring a photo ID and sign in for security considerations, since the open house will include tours of sensitive electric utility operations.
