Wunderlich strikes out 10 in Naperville Central win

Alyssa Wunderlich struck out 10, and worked out of a seventh-inning jam to preserve No. 13 Naperville Central’s 4-3 win over Wheaton Warrenville South on Wednesday in Naperville.

WW South (11-7, 0-1 DuPage Valley Conference) trailed 4-1 going into the seventh, but the first three batters singled. With the bases loaded and one out in a 4-2 game, Wunderlich (3-2) retired the Tigers’ No. 3 and No. 4 batters on ground outs to end it.

Meghan Griffin had 2 hits and scored 2 runs, and Katie Walker doubled in a run in a 2-run sixth for Naperville Central (6-3, 1-0). Timmie Rappe went 2-for-3 and Hannah Granger struck out seven for WW South.
