WDSRA volunteer sets a fine example

Volunteers are the cornerstone to successful programs for organizations like the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association. WDSRA would like to thank Kenna Anderson for all that she has done to further the mission of developing individuals through recreation. Kenna has contributed countless volunteer hours working with the auction committee and our adapted sports program.

But WDSRA isn’t the only beneficiary of Kenna’s generosity — she also volunteers as the Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Center Foundation Vice President, St. Matthew’s UCC committee and former board member, in numerous school and athletic team volunteer positions, and as a reading assistant at Bower Elementary School.

Kenna’s creativity, enthusiasm and “can do” attitude epitomize the true spirit of volunteerism. The entire Anderson family can be found at Special Olympics track meets and (WDSRA) events throughout the year.

Her son, Carl, recently coordinated a fundraising event between the Windy City Warriors wheelchair basketball team and Wheaton Warrenville South High School. This event educated students and community members alike about adapted sports. It also honored a fellow student athlete at Wheaton Warrenville South who is a member of the Windy City Warriors. Thank you, Kenna, for inspiring your family to give back. You have set a fine example, not only for your children, but for all of us.
