Fire damages Naperville house
No injuries were reported Tuesday in a fire that caused more than $200,000 damage to a two-story house in the 500 block of Bayberry Lane in Naperville, authorities said.
The fire began in the upstairs bathroom when a worker using a propane torch to loosen floor tile accidentally triggered the blaze.
Authorities said the fire got into the plumbing chase in the wall and raced up to the attic, causing considerable damage to two second-floor bedrooms.
Firefighters said they arrived at 10:56 a.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the rear of the house. The fire was brought under control in 15 minutes.
Building inspectors declared the house uninhabitable, authorities said.
