Lake County Senior Shootout set to tip off Friday

The second annual Lake County Senior Shootout is just three days away.

Coordinator Fred Fleming has announced a few roster changes for Friday’s showcase games to be held at the College of Lake County in Grayslake.

“Due to some players who have commitments with football and baseball which they can’t change, we’ve added a few new players to the game,” Fleming said. “The players we’ve added were already voted as alternates and now we are excited to have them participate in this years contest,”

Also, North Chicago boys basketball coach Gerald Coleman has been added to coach the boys East Team.

Sibling success

He recently received first team all-tournament honors at the 2011 NCVF National Collegiate Club Volleyball Championships in Houston.

Sullivan has led the Hoosiers to much success this season with several championships, including the Hoosier-Illini Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., and the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association 2011 Championships held at Ohio State University in March.

The Hoosiers were ranked second in the country leading into the MIVA Championships and NCVF Championships, respectively. In Houston, the Hoosiers were defeated in the semifinals by Oshkosh, 19-25, 25-22, 14-16. Oshkosh eventually defeated Notre Dame in the finals. IU finished tied for third with Illinois State.

Kelsey Sullivan, Ryan’s younger sister and a 2010 graduate of Mundelein High School, is the starting setter for the Indiana women’s Division I club volleyball team.

The Lady Hoosiers were ranked 17th in the country going into the 2011 NCVF National Collegiate Club Volleyball Championships in Houston, and finished 17th at Nationals. Indiana also placed first at the Michigan State Invitational in Grand Rapids in November.

Kelsey and Ryan plan to continue their success with Indiana Division I Club Volleyball next season.
