Don’t cut Planned Parenthood funding
Randy Hultgren and the Republicans have shown that they are incapable of proper governance and are not interested in deficit reduction. If they were, why would they choose to cut funding for Planned Parenthood when they could repeal the tax subsidies granted to the oil industry?
Do the math. Cutting $317 million for Title X and $75 million for Planned Parenthood and keeping the $20 billion in tax subsidies to the oil industry over 10 years makes sense only if the Republicans are furthering a right-wing religious agenda rather than reducing the deficit that the Bush administration created from Clinton’s surplus.
It makes no sense to cut funding to a group that provides health care to an underserved demographic that also serves to reduce abortions because it helps prevent unwanted pregnancies when the subsidies granted to the oil industry dwarf the funding Planned Parenthood receives.
This disingenuous con, attacking the beneficial funding of Planned Parenthood, not only threatens low-income women, but forces the American taxpayer to pay more for gas than the free market would.
Hultgren and the Republicans and tea party are all about furthering the interests of religious zealots to allow them to act in the interest of their corporate supporters at the expense of all else, especially those least capable of protecting themselves, the poor. Oh, and don’t forget that abortions will increase as unwanted pregnancies increase.
