The dollars and cents of Elgin towing policy
Tickets for people with four offenses bring Elgin more than $1.5 million since a new fee took effect Oct. 26, 2009. Here’s how much Elgin has earned:
License suspended/revoked offenses: $526,017 paid
No valid driver’s license offenses: $709,217 paid
DUI offenses: $273,400 paid
Car stereo violation offenses: $54,500 paid
Total collected: $1,577,733ote: Before Oct. 26, 2009, Elgin fined people $250 for stereo violations but received little of that because of rising costs for Cook and Kane counties to prosecute the cases. Elgin#146;s new adjudication system means the entire amount stays within the city.
