Peavy could be back with Sox before end of month

Let the guessing game begin.

Jake Peavy appears to be fully recovered from the shoulder tendinitis that shut him down on March 19.

The White Sox’ 29-year-old starting pitcher has already made a pair of minor-league rehab starts and Peavy is scheduled to make two more before rejoining the rotation.

The first will be on Monday with Class AA Birmingham and the second with AAA Charlotte on Saturday.

Assuming he stays healthy, Peavy’s first start with the Sox could be April 28, against New York at Yankee Stadium.

But the White Sox open a six-game homestand the following day and a source said it’s more likely Peavy is going to make his 2011 debut at U.S. Cellular Field.

No matter where it is, Peavy is looking forward to rejoining his teammates. He hasn’t pitched for the Sox since detaching his right posterior lat muscle last July 6.

Peavy threw 34 pitches in the bullpen at U.S. Cellular Field before the White Sox dropped their second straight to the Angels.

“Nice and easy, nothing crazy,” Peavy said. “I think normal is a good word. I do feel like I’m getting there, like I’m coming out of spring training. I’m getting a good feel for my pitches, I’m starting to feel stronger than in regular spring training. I just think we pushed it a little too hard. I don’t think anybody’s at fault for that.”

No defense:Defense was supposed to be a strength for the White Sox this season, but so far it#146;s been a glaring weakness.Entering Saturday with the second worst fielding percentage (.973) in the majors, the Sox continued their sloppy play when shortstop Alexei Ramirez committed his fourth error with a wild throw in the fourth inning. The White Sox have made 15 fielding miscues in 14 games, including 13 in their last 10.Like just about everything else during this ragged stretch for the White Sox, manager Ozzie Guillen expects to see better results.#147;I think we definitely are a good defensive team,#148; Guillen said. #147;I think we have a third baseman who will win the Gold Glove before his career is over. I think the shortstop should be a Gold Glove. In the outfield, we have two guys on the corner who will catch the ball and center field is very good.#147;I think we definitely are a good defensive team,#148; Guillen said. #147;I think we have a third baseman (Brent Morel) who will win the Gold Glove before his career is over.
