Cougars drop doubleheader

CLINTON, Iowa — The Kane County Cougars suffered a doubleheader sweep in Clinton on Saturday night, falling to the LumberKings 6-4 and, 2-1 at Alliant Energy Field.

The Cougars scored a run in each of the first four innings in Game 1. Brian Fletcher homered in the first, Alex Llanos hit a sacrifice fly in the second, Ryan Jenkins drove in Lane Adams in the third and Llanos belted a long homer in the fourth to make it 4-0.

Keaton Hayenga had given up 1 hit and no runs through 4 innings before the LumberKings scored 6 in the fifth.

In Game 2, the Cougars (3-7) were trailing 1-0 in the seventh inning and down to their final strike when Ryan Stovall hit an RBI double that drove home Adams to tie the score. But the LumberKings pushed across the game-winning in the bottom of the inning.
