Bartlett man charged in drug bust

A Cook County judge set bail at $150,000 Saturday for a 20-year-old Bartlett man who authorities say sold an undercover officer 3.5 grams of cocaine for $130.

Police charged Rolando Lopez, of the 200 block of West Country Drive, with possession of a controlled substance and delivery of a controlled substance, a class 1 felony punishable by four to 15 years in prison.

The undercover officer met Lopez late Friday afternoon in the parking lot of a Schaumburg grocery store, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Robin Murphy during Lopez's bond hearing Saturday.

The officer gave Lopez money in exchange for a bag containing a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine, Murphy said. The defendant, who authorities say has outstanding warrants from Cook and Kane counties, admitted to the officer he had another bag of the substance in his front pocket, Murphy said.

Lopez is currently on probation for a 2010 domestic battery, Murphy said. He received a conditional discharge for a 2009 charge of resisting a police officer in Kane County, Murphy said.

Lopez next appears in court on May 12.
