IRS2Go app tracks tax information

IRS2Go, from the Internal Revenue Service, has been around since January, but this is really its time to shine. If you’ve finished your taxes (just) ahead of schedule, pat yourself on the back and download this app to track your next step.

A clean, simple app, the IRS2Go home screen offers four options: You can track your refund, get tax updates, follow tweets from the IRS and contact the agency.

Tracking your refund is easy, and those who have used the IRS’ “Where’s my refund?” feature online will experience deja vu. Users will need to have their SSN, filing status and refund amount handy. Check the app about 72 hours after you file, and it should tell you the status of your return.

Want tax tips for next year? Follow the IRS on Twitter or sign up for e-mail alerts through the app. The app is free, and it runs on iOS and Android devices.
