Time for Durbin to pass the baton

Isn’t it interesting that Sen. Durbin is chairing the Judiciary subcommittee on Muslim civil rights? Isn’t he the same senator who before last November’s elections advised his Democrat colleagues to avoid town hall meetings? Since Muslims represent about 1 percent of our population, I guess we can applaud him for being a champion for the “little guys.” Voters, on the other hand, shouldn’t really expect career politicians to respect taxpaying Americans’ First Amendment rights!

By the way, he did find time to address a pro-union group. He is not representing all of Illinois, and he has served long enough. It’s time for him to gracefully retire. If he were entering politics for the first time now, he couldn’t win the primary.
