Carpentersville man convicted of sex assault
A Carpentersville man was convicted this week on charges of sexually assaulting a girl he knew.
Teodolfo Salcedo-Vazquez, of the 0-100 block of Hickory Drive, was found guilty by a jury Wednesday of six counts of criminal sexual assault and 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse — all felonies.
Prosecutors said Salcedo-Vazquez had sexual contact with the victim at least six times between July 26, 2006, and Sept. 1, 2007. Authorities said Salcedo-Vazquez had admitted in an interview that he had sexually assaulted and abused the victim, who is now 19 years old.
Salcedo-Vazquez faces between 24 and 90 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for June 2.
He had been held in Kane County jail on $500,000 bond, which was revoked upon conviction.
