Cubs vs. Colorado Rockies at Coors Field

Pitching matchups: The Cubs’ Matt Garza (0-1) vs. Jhoulys Chacin (2-0) Friday at 7:40 p.m.; Casey Coleman (0-0) vs. Jason Hammel (1-0) Saturday at 7:10 p.m.; Ryan Dempster (1-2) vs. TBD Sunday at 2:10 p.m.

At a glance: The Cubs were 2-3 against the Rockies last year, 0-3 at Coors Field. The Rockies crushed the Cubs 17-2 last July 30, and then Carlos Gonzalez hit a game-winning homer off Sean Marshall the next night. Colorado had to play a makeup doubleheader Thursday at New York. It’s possible Kosuke Fukudome (hamstring) could get back into the Cubs’ lineup for Game 1 of the series. Garza has faced the Rockies once, losing a 4-3 decision in 2009 while with Tampa Bay. He has allowed 20 hits so far while striking out 20. Colorado’s Troy Tulowitzki entered Thursday leading the NL in homers with 5, and Huston Street led in saves with 6.
