Arlington Heights tennis tournament will benefit Japan relief
Tennis players at Forest View Racquet & Fitness Club in Arlington Heights are holding a fundraising tournament next week to help those in need after last month’s devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
The doubles tournament will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the club, 800 E. Falcon Drive.
Thirty-two teams will play three 30-minute matches against those with similar skills. The entry fee is $30 per player, and slots are filling. Teams are requested to register at 11:30 a.m.
All proceeds will go to Japan Red Cross. Spectators can participate in a silent auction and donate to the cause. Donations of usable tennis rackets also are requested. Those that cannot be sold will be given to the Chicago Public Schools.
