Three charged in $4 robbery in Bensenville

Three people have been charged in connection with a recent home invasion in Bensenville in which a man was robbed at gunpoint of about $4, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Marvin Fajardo, 17, of Glendale Heights, and Streamwood residents Linda M. Collins, 24, and Nathaniel Day, 20, were indicted Tuesday in DuPage County.

The trio is accused of entering a home on the 1000 block of South York Road in Bensenville about 2:30 a.m. on March 12, then restraining a man there at gunpoint and robbing him of about $4. No one was hurt.

A grand jury charged all three suspects with aggravated robbery, armed robbery, home invasion and residential burglary. Day also was charged with unlawful restraint, armed violence, intimidation, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

State records show Day, a reputed gang member formerly of Addison, was paroled in July from a two-year prison term for possessing an unregistered, loaded semiautomatic pistol. He also has prior arrests for disorderly conduct, criminal trespass and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Day, of the 300 block of Tanglewood Drive, was being held Wednesday at the Illinois River Correctional Facility, where he was returned after his arrest in connection with the Bensenville case.

Collins, whose listed address is the same as Day’s, and Fajardo, of the 2300 block of Century Point Lane, remained in DuPage County jail on $100,000 and $300,000 bail, respectively.

Collins remains charged in an unrelated misdemeanor case in which she is accused of making harassing phone calls to a woman in Downers Grove last month.

Court records show Fajardo has a prior conviction for misdemeanor disorderly conduct stemming from a 2009 brawl at Marquardt Middle School in Glen Ellyn.
