Chicago sports figures join Obama in political fundraising

President Barack Obama is expected to be joined by some of Chicago's biggest sports figures with him to raise money for his re-election campaign.

After raising money at a high-end restaurant Thursday, Obama is to head to Chicago's Navy Pier for a fundraiser with about 2,300 people.

It will be Obama's third stop of the night. Also expected at Navy Pier are Chicago Bulls players Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose. Also expected is baseball legend Ernie Banks.

Obama will spend the night in his South Side home before returning to Washington on Friday.

Obama's fundraising push comes as the Republican field begins to take shape. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum announced exploratory committees this week.
