CHA to release resident relocation report

The Chicago Housing Authority is releasing a first-of-its-kind report about the status of residents who have been relocated under its ambitious overhaul program.

The agency is planning a news conference about the report on Thursday morning.

The CHA says the report will provide details on the movement patterns, whereabouts and financial status of 25,000 households affected by the overhaul.

This marks the first time the agency has made public its statistics on where residents have ended up and how they're faring.

The agency undertook the "Plan for Transformation" in 1999 to replace crumbling housing developments that had become rampant with gangs, drugs and crime.

The multi-billion dollar plan was originally scheduled to be completed in 2010 but has been pushed back to 2015.
