Boater on Chain O’ Lakes rescued

Emergency crews rescued a man who may have had a heart attack while in a row boat on the Chain O’ Lakes early Wednesday evening, officials said.

The man in his 50s was alone in the rowboat on Channel Lake in Antioch when he went into cardiac arrest, authorities said.

The Antioch Fire Department received an emergency call at 5:12 p.m. reporting that the man was being help up by fishermen from another boat, said Chief John Nixon.

The department responded with a boat to launch at Bob’s Marina in Antioch, and rescuers reported that the man was in cardiac arrest once they got to him, Nixon said.

Once brought to shore, the man was taken to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Wisconsin, officials said.

As of Wednesday evening, fire department officials believed the man had survived but were not certain.
