Cougars fall to River Bandits
The host Kane County Cougars scored first but went on to fall 5-3 to the Quad City River Bandits before 5,307 at Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva.
Gerard Hall gave the Cougars (2-4) a 1-0 lead in the second with an RBI single that scored Geulin Beltre.
But Cougars starter Leonel Santiago gave up a run in the third and 3 in the fourth before departing after 3 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits. Reliever Mitch Hodge kept the Cougars in the game, yielding a run in the eighth over 4 innings.
The Cougars, who walked six times and had 6 hits, scored twice in the fifth. Yowill Espinal drove in Travis Jones with a single, and Alex Llanos scored on a throwing error to cut the deficit to 4-3.
