Libertyville playhouse to perform 'Gathering'

The Improv Playhouse, in cooperation with GreenStick Theatre Company, is producing “The Gathering,” Josephine Raciti Forsberg's contemporary adaptation of the last hour of the Last Supper, directed by David Brian Stuart.

Performances will be 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 14-16; 2 p.m. Sunday, April 17; and 8 p.m. Holy Thursday, April 21, and Saturday, April 23, at The Improv Playhouse Theatre, 735 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.

“The Gathering” takes place during a Seder meal, which biblical scholars agree was the last earthly Passover led by Jesus.

The professional cast is comprised of some of the same actors from the 2010 production, as well as several new to the Improv Playhouse/GreenStick stable.

The cast of 13 is made up of Jon-Michael Armstrong, Libertyville, (James Major); Shahab Astabraghpour, Waukegan, (The Teacher, Jesus); Michael Scott Blackman, Deerfield, (James Minor); David Cocks, Libertyville, (John); Brian Delaney, Lake Zurich, (Simon Zealot); Mark Drinnenberg, McHenry, (Thomas); George Elliot, Hainesville, (Jude); Rim Milunas, Libertyville, (Matthew); Ken Mooney, Vernon Hills, (Judas); Daniel Patfield, Crystal Lake, (Phillip); David Retseck, Antioch, (Peter); Eric Schaefges, Lake Zurich, (Andrew); Manny Schenk, Glenview, (Bartholomew); Tim Schwaar, Mundelein, (Understudy).

Sari Ferarro, Huntley, is the assistant director.

Tickets purchased in advance cost $18.50 for adults, $12.50 for students, military personnel and seniors ages 65 and older.

At the door, tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students, military personnel and seniors 65 and older. Admission is free to children ages 3 and younger.
