Tornado watch in effect
A tornado watch is in effect for the west and northwest suburbs as a strong storm is making its way across the state.
The watch will remain in effect until 1 a.m. in Kane, Kendall and McHenry counties, according to the National Weather Service.
The possibly dangerous thunderstorm is expected to produce gusting winds of up to 40 mph, half-dollar sized hail, cloud-to-ground lightning and more than an inch and a half of rain in some areas, according to meteorologists.
Today’s temperatures that broke 80 degrees will be short-lived, and the forecast shows us dipping back into the upper 50s Monday, according to forecasters.
