Green movement should fight plastics
Remember the seventies when we took all of our glass bottles back to the grocery store and they were truly recycled as in sterilized and reused?
I mention this because there is a huge blind spot among the so-called environmentalists behind the “green” movement: plastics. We use the vast majority of petroleum, not for gasoline, but to produce all those wonderful plastic bottles that are a huge environmental problem. And yet somehow we are told the Toyota Prius is the answer. What a pathetic joke.
Anytime actual common sense becomes a part of the “green movement” let me know. Until there is an all-out attack on the overuse of plastics that are petroleum based and have a terrible impact on the environment, I have absolutely no respect for so-called environmentalists raving on about global warming and gas guzzlers, all the while ignoring a very solvable problem.
If we could use glass in the seventies, we can go back. I’d rather pay more for bottled pop and water than continue to keep pumping out millions and millions of plastic containers. Progress is not always really progress. Want to be green? Boycott plastics.
