Hoffman Estates man pleads guilty to possession
A 21-year-old Hoffman Estates man who told police the green powdery substance they found at his home last May was incense, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance Thursday.
In exchange for the guilty plea to the felony, a Cook County judge sentenced Jesse Miller to 30 months in prison and ordered him to pay $1,185 in fines.
The charge carries a sentence of one to three years in prison. Probation is also an option.
Police found the substance, which authorities say tested positive for mescaline, on May 30, 2010, during a narcotics investigation. The estimated the street value of the substance recovered was about $157,000, authorities said.
Miller has been in Cook County Jail since his arrest last July. He received credit for the 280 days he’s spent in custody.
