Former Naperville resident died of stab wound
A former Naperville resident who was found dead with her husband after a fire at their Galena home died as a result of a stab wound, according to authorities.
Margaret Marnowski, 63, died from a single stab wound to the chest, according to a statement released by the Jo Daviess County sheriff’s office on Thursday. Officials said her husband, James Marnowski, 62, died from asphyxiation from the fire.
The couple, who moved from Naperville in 2003, were found after a blaze in Galena on Sept. 19, 2010.
The sheriff’s office said its investigation has not obtained any credible evidence to support any third party involvement in their deaths.
“The investigation, however, remains open and final conclusions into this case have not been made,” the statement said.
The Marnowskis were longtime employees of the Nalco Chemical Co. Margaret Marnowski also volunteered at Edward Hospital in Naperville.
