5 more Lisagor nominations for Daily Herald

The Daily Herald has received another five nominations in the 2010 Peter Lisagor Awards for Exemplary Journalism competition.

That is in addition to 13 nominations the paper received when nominees were first announced in March. The awards are sponsored by the Chicago Headline Club.

The latest nominations are:

Ÿ Jim Slusher and Editorial Board in the Best Editorial Writing category.

Ÿ Anna Marie Kukec for “The Last Resort,” in the Best Business or Consumer Reporting category.

Ÿ Dann Gire and Barbara Vitello in the Best Arts Reporting and Criticism category.

Ÿ Ashok Selvam, Chuck Keeshan and Russell Lissau for “Unanswered Questions,” in the Best Sports Story category.

The other nominees first announced in March are:

Ÿ Matt Arado, Bob McCoppin and John Patterson for the “Public pension time bomb” series in the Best Investigative Reporting category. Ÿ Kim Pohl for “Lukich departure,” in the Best Education Reporting category.

Ÿ Jamie Sotonoff for “A $13,000 problem,” and Marni Pyke for “Haste makes toxic waste,” in the Best Science, Health, Technology or Environmental Reporting category. Ÿ Kerry Lester for “Unsilenced,” in the Best Feature Story category.

Ÿ Barry Rozner in the Best Sports Commentary category.

Ÿ George LeClaire for “Ricke memorial,” and “When Elvis was alive,” in the Best News Photo category.

Ÿ John Starks for “Stars and stripes forever,” and LeClaire for “Chicago dancers,” in the Best Feature Photo category.

Ÿ Steve Lundy for “Wrestling celebration,” and Rick West for “Game saving catch,” in the Best Sports Photo category.

Ÿ Tim Broderick in the Best Graphics category. Winners will be announced May 6.
