Washington St. daytime lane closures begin April 12

Lane Closures Required for Platform Reconstruction at Downtown Naperville Metra Station

Due to the start of the Metra Platform Improvement Project, daily lane closures will be in effect from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Washington Street from Fifth Avenue to North Avenue. At least one lane of traffic in each direction will remain open at all times. These lane closures are tentatively slated to begin on Tuesday, April 12 and last approximately five weeks. Motorists should expect delays due to these lane reductions and allow additional time for their trip or find alternate routes.

The lane closures on Washington Street are needed due to the reconstruction work on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad Bridge over Washington Street. The Metra Platform Improvement Project will remove and reconstruct the north and south platforms of the downtown Naperville Metra Station. This work includes reconstruction of the platform portion of the railroad bridge over Washington Street. Construction is slated for completion in 2012.
