Indiana's 95-year-old lawmaker honored
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana's oldest living former lawmaker has been honored at the Statehouse for his public service.
Ninety-five-year-old Elmer Hoehn of Jeffersonville told senators Thursday that his years of legislative work were some of the "greatest experiences" in his life.
He represented Clark County in the House in the 1940s and became chief clerk of the Indiana House in 1949.
The former teacher and served as the Midwest campaign manager for Democrat Lyndon Johnson's presidential runs in 1960 and 1964 and joined the Johnson administration in 1965 as administrator of the U.S. Oil Import Administration.
Clark Circuit Judge Dan Moore and others arranged for Hoehn's visit to the Statehouse, where a resolution honoring him was sponsored by Republican Sen. Jim Smith of Charlestown.
